Job Summary

We are seeking a Housekeeper to join our community. As a Housekeeper, you will impact the lives of residents through cleanliness and servicing, care of cleaning equipment; efficient expenditures of soaps, waxes, polishes, and similar supplies and providing an adequate supply of clean linens at all times to meet the needs of the residents. This position combines aspects of housekeeping, custodial, and laundry functions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties in a courteous manner and maintain excellence in customer service including cheering greeting residents and visitors and exercising respect with co‑workers.
  • Clean and service rooms, baths, and offices; dust furniture and equipment; clean windows, window sills, light globes; empty trash baskets and remove trash; clean and polish bathtubs, sinks, mirrors; replenish supplies of soap and towels; clean and polish brass, glass panels, doors, partitions; check and fill all dispensers (hand soap, paper).
  • Clean, mop and treat floors; strip, wax, and buff floors as needed, vacuum all carpet and shampoo carpet as directed.
  • Mix/dilute housekeeping chemicals and products according to instructions.
  • Move furniture as needed in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Make minor repairs and adjustments; replace light bulbs; repair clogged sinks, commodes, or drains.
  • Assist dietary unit as needed with set‑ups, clean‑up and policing spills during meals.
  • Keep utility storage rooms in good order by cleaning lockers and equipment, arranging supplies, sweeping and mopping floor. Organize and maintain linen closets in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Report issues of department equipment when it is not in good working condition.
  • Detect and correct or report hazardous conditions that may cause accidents or injuries.
  • Observe and report resident symptoms, reactions, and changes to the director or other appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements and all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing strong working relationships with co‑workers.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training as required.
  • Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.
  • Sort all dirty laundry by kind in accordance with established procedures, help fold and dry clean linen as directed, and pick up laundry from various floors or locations.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma (or G.E.D.).
  • Age 21 with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Self‑motivation to guide daily work with only moderate supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to use tact and courtesy in interactions with coworkers, residents and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous housekeeping/laundry experience in related industry.
  • A willingness and desire to build and maintain great working relationships with coworkers, residents and the community.
