Job Summary /DescriptionThe Associate Director of Facilities Management oversees campus building maintenance operations, supervises skilled trades staff, manages maintenance and small construction projects, supports university events, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations.
Typical Duties/Job DutiesSkills and Abilities
- Knowledge of general building maintenance principles, construction practices, and related building codes.
- Knowledge of electrical, painting, and carpentry processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of the proper use of tools, equipment, and materials related to building maintenance.
- Knowledge of hazards, safety precautions, and regulations required for safe maintenance operations.
- Knowledge of effective employee supervision, training practices, and workflow coordination.
- Knowledge of applicable University policies and procedures.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of maintenance staff.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from operation and maintenance manuals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Ability to operate all tools and equipment necessary for carpentry and general building maintenance with proficiency.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in building construction, business, engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Two years of supervisory experience in the maintenance or construction of public or other large buildings.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance provider.
- Successful completion of a background check.
