1st Shift Maintenance Technician

Overview

Crescent Textile Solutions, located in San Angelo, Texas, operates a large-scale industrial wool scouring plant in North America. The plant cleans and prepares thousands of pounds of raw, greasy fleece daily, removing lanolin and dirt for use across the broader textile industry. The industrial washing operation uses large-scale machinery to clean raw wool through a highly controlled, step-by-step process.

The Maintenance Technician routinely performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of equipment used in the facility. This position also assists with maintaining parts inventory, organizing, and maintaining the maintenance shop, as well as inspecting and diagnosing malfunctions and breakdowns and performing repairs. This position must be able to take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and lifespan.

Monday-Thursday 6 AM to 4 PM, Overtime as needed/required on Friday.

• Completes routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots maintenance issues on standardized equipment
• Responds to production requests for immediate attention to production line breakdowns
• Assists in maintaining the organization of the maintenance shop and adequate parts inventory
• Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
• Communicates and collaborates with other departments, including production, warehouse, and quality, regarding the status of maintenance projects and needs
• Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods
• Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines
• Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company
• Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
• Must have effective time management skills
• Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors
• Must maintain a clean and safe workspace
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
• Must be available to work overtime as needed; with little, to no notice
• Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, a respirator fit test
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English

• Two-year technical degree in maintenance-related field or a combination of education experience
• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician preferred
• Plastic extrusion experience preferred
• Forklift maintenance experience preferred
• Basic electrical knowledge preferred

Working conditions may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents.

• Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection
• Work at elevated heights of approximately 30 feet

• Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
