The Multicultural Center seeks a Ram Pantry Programming Assistant who is passionate about supporting food security initiatives and promoting accessibility within the university community. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a high level of initiative.
Responsibilities- Work with the program coordinator to coordinate and support the operations of the Ram Pantry, including inventory management, stocking, and distribution of food items.
- Utilize a personal vehicle to shop for essential food items and coordinate donation pickups, ensuring a steady supply of nutritious options for the Ram Pantry. Must be capable of lifting 20 lbs and organizing food items.
- Collaborate with student organizations, volunteers, and university personnel to promote and raise awareness about Ram Pantry services and food insecurity issues on campus.
- Assist in developing and implementing programs and activities focused on promoting food security and wellness within the university community.
- Provide exceptional customer service to students accessing the Ram Pantry, including offering support and guidance and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Contribute to maintaining and updating the Ram Pantry’s social media platforms to promote events and resources and engage with the university community.
- Assist with actively collecting and organizing data to monitor the impact and usage of Ram Pantry services and contributing to HSI grant annual reports. Responsibilities include gathering survey data, managing and analyzing the data, and creating visual representations and PowerPoint presentations to effectively convey the findings.
- Engage in community-building efforts to foster a sense of belonging and support among students using Ram Pantry services.
- Must be a currently enrolled Graduate student and registered for classes.
- Appropriate semi-professional attire is required since we work in a centralized location.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Sensitivity to issues of food insecurity and a commitment to promoting the Ram pantry.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including students, staff, and volunteers.
- Previous experience working in food pantry settings, social services, or community outreach is a plus.
- Ability to work both remotely and in the Center as needed.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Knowledge of technical skills:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher (or other creative design programs). - Demonstrate excellent customer service and social skills.
- Schedules that fit the front desk operational requirements and coverage.
- Knowledge of the campus programs and policies.
