Job Summary

The Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health at Angelo State University seeks an organized and community-focused professional to support its daily operations, programs, and outreach efforts. This position coordinates events, community outreach, and engagement activities that advance the mission of the Institute. It also serves as a liaison among Institute partners, TTU System campuses, community stakeholders, and donors, and helps ensure the successful execution of Institute programs and events.

Event Planning and Coordination

Coordinate and oversee the planning, logistics, promotion, and execution of Institute events, educational programs, fundraising activities, and special initiatives that support the mission of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health.

2. Community Outreach and Engagement

Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare partners, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders to increase engagement and expand the Institute’s community presence.

3. Liaison and Partner Communication

Serve as a liaison between the Institute, Texas Tech University System departments, internal partners, external organizations, and community stakeholders. Facilitate communication, coordinate meetings, respond to inquiries, and support effective working relationships.

4. Administrative and Operational Support

Support the daily operations of the Institute by coordinating schedules, maintaining program records, preparing reports, assisting with budgets, managing event documentation, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

5. Program Development and Mission Advancement

Assist with initiatives that support program growth, increase participation, evaluate event outcomes, identify new partnership opportunities, and advance the Institute’s mission.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Event planning principles, project coordination, logistics, and administrative processes related to community programs and special events.
  • Budget tracking, basic accounting practices, and expense reporting procedures.
  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and business communication practices.
  • Office software and systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Banner, and related computer applications.
Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outreach, engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • Organization, prioritization, and project coordination skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills related to logistical and operational matters.
Abilities:
  • Coordinate and support multiple events, programs, and projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Institute partners, Texas Tech University System personnel, donors, community organizations, volunteers, and the public.
  • Develop and support outreach efforts that increase community awareness, participation, and support for the Institute’s mission.
  • Analyze situations, resolve issues, adapt to changing priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Represent the Institute in a professional and positive manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, community engagement, program coordination, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
