This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties outlined below are at the full performance level GS-6.
The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) position is to provide high-quality healthcare and exceptional customer service while maintaining an environment dedicated to serving veterans. The LPN/LVN functions under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee and must exhibit basic technical competence and skill. This LVN/LVN is expected to fully meet all key elements and operate as a proficient and self-directed professional in delivering complex practical nursing care to a diverse patient population, including those with physical and/or behavioral problems, with minimal supervision by:
* Providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
* Performing nonstandard and specialized practical nursing activities.
* Carrying out assigned patient care tasks based on the patient's condition, using appropriate judgment for procedures and treatments.
* Observing, identifying, and responding to patients' needs, including medication administration, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
* Handling emergency situations and providing appropriate interventions as directed.
* Establishing constructive relationships with patients and their families to foster communication, respect, and positive interaction.
* Preparing and assisting in complex diagnostic tests and procedures.
* Serving as a preceptor to orient and educate less experienced LPNs/LVNs, Nursing Assistants, and Health Technicians.
* Seeking educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills and sharing new information with colleagues
* Demonstrating excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Prioritizing veteran care and applying customer service principles in all aspects of work.
* Maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and being open to temporary duty assignments or floating to other units/departments as needed.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
