Job Summary

We are searching for the best talent for Electrician 1st Class to be in San Angelo, TX. This position is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment and the hourly rate is $27.65/hr the role performs electrical and electronic repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment installation and modifications to a wide variety of production equipment with limited supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Calculate wire and cable size requirements by determining voltage, amperage, wattage, resistance, etc.
  • Diagnose motor and motor control troubles and correct by repairing or replacing parts.
  • Operate all testing equipment such as voltage testers, voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, watt meters, etc.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electronic control circuits and equipment, photoelectric cell circuits, level controls, etc.
  • Work on live lines and circuits using all safety precautions.
  • Change light bulbs and ballast of all types; replace or repair fuses of any size used in plant.
  • Operate and work from ladders; make necessary openings, cut outs as required.
  • Lay out and install electrical wiring and components working from blueprints, sketches, diagrams, etc.
  • Suggest improvements or short cuts as applicable using trade knowledge and familiarity with plant and equipment.
  • Direct, instruct and advise helpers when assigned.
  • Maintain work areas and shop in neat and orderly condition; adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Install and make minor repairs to programmable controllers.
  • Keep abreast of changes or trade practices and new equipment, particularly as they may apply to J&J equipment and processes.
  • Communicate business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
Other Responsibilities
  • Work in a team environment behaving in a CREDO-based respectful manner.
  • Comply with all federally regulated programs.
  • Adhere to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines.
  • Comply with all job‑specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary.
  • Comply with quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions.
  • Use test equipment where applicable.
  • Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g., Compliance Wire, ADAPTIV, etc.).
  • Consistently meet required work performance targets (REs), if applicable.
  • Support LEAN and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care.
  • Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (manual and/or electronic documentation).
  • Perform other work‑related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Consistently meet required training due date targets.
  • Job may entail working on off shifts (2nd and 3rd) based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; vocational, certificate, technical or associate preferred.
  • 1–2 years of relevant work experience required; preference for formalized vocational or apprenticeship training and applicable experience.
  • Prior experience in GMP, ISO, QSR or other regulated industry is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience using a PC, Microsoft Office Suite, and navigating Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, able to work with minimum technical supervision.
  • Arc Flash training.
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes.
  • Current and valid driver's license.
Additional Requirements
  • Must take and pass the Work Keys Assessment.
  • Candidate must be amenable to a day shift schedule for 6 to 9 months for training and transition to night shift after training is completed.
