Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I

We are searching for the best talent for a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I in San Angelo, TX. This position is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment and the hourly rate is $28.34/hr.

Responsibilities:

  • The Facilities Mechanic is accountable to apply trade knowledge and familiarity with plant and equipment for leading a continuous improvement program on specified equipment. This will include recommending, and participating in equipment improvements, and the ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • As a Facilities Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring continued support for all aspects of the site related to Facilities needs.
  • Support any facilities project needs within the site.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of electrical and/or mechanical technical certification from an accredited institution or a combination of education and work experience in the field.
  • Records meter and gauge readings as specified and checks and records quantities of materials and supplies, such as fuel oil, gas, chemicals, etc.
  • Thoroughly investigates any malfunctioning equipment and initiates the appropriate repairs.
  • Tours entire plant to check operation of thermostats, radiators, exhaust fans, air-conditioning units, etc. Opens, closes, or adjusts valves, switches, etc. to secure or maintain desired temperatures in each area.
  • As required, checks operation of water pumps, performs PM and adjusts pressure controls as needed.
  • Lays out and installs piping with valves, tees, nipples, drains, etc, cutting, threading, and connecting sections as needed; works up material lists and assists with ordering of same; coordinates work of subcontracted plumbers and other mechanics as required.
  • Cuts, bends, and sweat couplings and/or copper tubing for new water lines; maintains all appropriate equipment in working order; advises facilitator as to equipment or material needed.
  • Connects pneumatic control instruments and adjusts control valves; reads pneumatic schematics; coordinates modifications or major repairs with vendor.
  • Diagnoses cause of trouble and makes vital repairs, adjustments, or replacements to pipelines, valves, sprinkler heads, toilets, fountains, fluid or gas lines to equipment, etc.
  • Performs periodic performance checks on plant physical equipment and systems and initiates accurate corrective actions where indicated.
  • Fixes and diagnoses problems with plant physical equipment. Communicates all appropriate information to facilitator, makes recommendations, initiates repairs, records pertinent data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office including EXCEL, WORD, and Outlook and able to demonstrate the ability to operate Microsoft Excel for data entry and interpretation (Open selected files given location, read and interpret data as displayed, tabular and graphically).
  • Knowledge of PLCs and automated equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMMS (MAXIMO).
  • Knowledge on Maintenance technologies such as Infrared Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, Lubrication and Alignment Analysis and/or willingness to acquire trainings, follow all applicable quality management system, environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (for example, ISO 13485, ISO
    14001 & OSHAS
    18001).

Additional Requirements:

  • Does any other work of a related nature and performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Must have good work habits (neatness, organizational skills, time management skills, etc.).
  • This position will require candidates to take and pass the Work Keys Assessment.
  • The selected candidate will have to be amenable to a day shift schedule for 6 to 9 months for training and transition to night shift after training is completed.
