We are currently seeking:
A Utility Maintenance Mechanic, who, under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water Distribution/Collection systems, Water/Wastewater treatment plants, and according to job specifications and technical codes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing a variety of semi-skilled labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and collection systems, sewer systems, lift stations, pumps, utility meters, and other components.
- Working independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills.
- Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifying supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority.
- Identifying and repairing leaks or breaks in the distribution and collection system; clearing obstructions; replacing and repairing pipes, hydrants and valves; locating and marking sewer and water lines.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Ensuring that safety rules and regulations are followed; utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
- Ensuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up and stored according to City policy and procedures; responding to emergencies as needed and performing tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.
- May coordinate work of maintenance crew and assign specific tasks to crew members.
- Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, rotating on call position that may include holidays or weekends. - Regular and timely attendance is required.
