Under general direction, independently coordinates and administers the Tom Green County Crisis Intervention program, staff, and activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Oversees daily program activities including supervision of staff and volunteers.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers to provide on-scene crisis intervention; oversees preparation of the monthly on-call volunteer schedule; maintains volunteer records in an accurate and confidential manner.
- Provides direct victim services in office or in the field, including crisis counseling, referrals, victim advocacy, and emergency transportation; assists victims in applying for financial assistance or refers to other community resources, as appropriate.
- Coordinates the planning for volunteer training seminars, including securing speakers and preparation of informational materials for attendees.
- Develops and/or revises program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, as necessary.
- Prepares grant applications; prepares and administers operating budget.
- Provides Crisis Intervention Program information to the public through radio, television, print media, and personal speaking engagements.
- Maintains activity statistics; prepares monthly and quarterly grant reports.
- Communicates and interacts with attorneys, victims, families, law enforcement/court personnel, and Tom Green County department representatives.
- Prepares or drafts correspondence, as needed.
- Answers phone and provides information or refers call to appropriate individual or office.
- Responds to crisis scenes on a 24/7 on call basis, as needed.
- Ensures program vehicle is properly maintained.
- Attends meetings and seminars; attends Commissioner’s Court meetings as needed to discuss topics such as budget, expenditures, and resolutions.
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills:
Knowledge of crisis intervention program procedures and practices; knowledge of basic medical and legal terminology; knowledge of community organizations and resources; knowledge of the laws pertaining to victim rights; knowledge of grant application procedures and requirements; knowledge of data entry and database maintenance procedures; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Ability to organize and administer a community program including staff and volunteers; ability to organize, prioritize and perform work in a self-directed manner; ability to speak before public groups; ability to accurately maintain records and data; ability to prepare reports using basic mathematical calculations; ability to operate a personal computer and other office equipment; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
Skill in oral/written communication and interpersonal relations.
Physical Requirements and Work Setting:Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned environment; prolonged periods of sitting and periodic walking, standing, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting up to 15 lbs; visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required.
Education and/or ExperienceRequired:
Two years of experience in victim services programs. A Bachelor’s Degree in a Social or Behavioral Science or other related field may substitute for one year of the required experience. Administrative and/or supervisory background is desirable.
Certificates and Licenses:Possession of a valid State of Texas Class C Driver’s License.
