Leidos is on the hunt for a savvy Technical Artist – Unreal Engine & Unity to work on site at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. This is a great opportunity where you can use your unique skills to support mission-focused projects. Interested candidates must be able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
What You’ll Do- 3D Asset Creation & Optimization – Modify and optimize high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials specifically for real-time engine use and to ensure all assets conform to technical budgets/requirements (polygon counts, draw calls, texture resolutions, and LODs).
- Game Engine Integration – Integrate, set up, and configure 3D assets seamlessly within both Unity and Unreal Engine (including prefabs, Blueprints, materials, lighting, and basic physics/collision).
- Design Fidelity – Strictly follow project managers’ design documents and style guides to translate concepts and technical requirements into high-quality in‑game experiences.
- Pipeline Collaboration – Collaborate with programmers, designers, and other artists to establish and maintain a smooth art-to-engine pipeline and ensure asset integrity in version control.
- Web Support – Maintain or modify existing web-based interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) using client‑side scripting (HTML5, JavaScript) and database queries when required including WebGL and WebGPU.
- Security Clearance – Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance. Requires US Citizenship.
- Education & Experience – Bachelor's degree in Game Art, 3D Animation, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or 4+ years of equivalent professional industry experience with a strong portfolio.
- Core Experience – 3 to 7 years of professional experience in game development and or real‑time interactive simulation.
- Software Mastery – Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Maya for 3D modeling, UV mapping, rigging, and animation prep and high proficiency in texturing tools (e.g., Photoshop).
- Engine Expertise – Dual proficiency in Unity 3D and Unreal Engine (hands‑on experience with Unity Prefabs, Unreal Blueprints, material editors, and sequencer/timelines is highly critical).
- Valued Secondary Skills – Familiarity with web technologies (Vue.js, HTML5, JavaScript, PHP) or database management (SQL, MySQL).
Pay Range: $65,650.00 – $. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
