About

the Role

Resident Faculty (RFs) provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance that support the intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth of boarding students. Serving as role models, mentors, and trusted adults, RFs play a central role in the daily life of the residential community.

Successful RFs are relationship-centered adults who genuinely enjoy working with adolescents and are committed to supporting students as they grow and develop. They are caring, approachable, appropriately bounded, and able to build trust while maintaining clear expectations and sound professional judgment. RFs are visible, engaged members of the community who understand that meaningful relationships are built through consistency, presence, and everyday interactions.

This is a highly interactive, student-facing role that requires regular evening and weekend work, shift-based scheduling, and active participation in residential life. Successful RFs are flexible, dependable, and energized by the rhythms of a boarding school environment, where schedules, student needs, and community responsibilities may change from day to day.

Resident Faculty contribute wherever needed in support of the community and approach their work with humility, a sense of humor, and a willingness to learn. They recognize that life in a boarding community requires adaptability, teamwork, and a shared commitment to student development and well‑being.

As a condition of employment, On-Campus Resident Faculty are required to reside in a housing unit within a dormitory on the School's campus. This position reports to the Director of Residential Life.
