Sol Schwartz & Associates is assisting a client in the San Antonio area with the search for an Accountant to support their real estate development operations. This is a full-time, on-site position with a company that has been in business for over 50 years and is known for its collaborative, team-oriented culture. The client's office is located in zip code 78231.
The Accountant will support the full accounting lifecycle for real estate development projects, including entity formation, day-to-day accounting activities, and month-end and year-end close. Responsibilities include maintaining balance sheets, performing reconciliations, preparing financial statements, and handling tax compliance for multiple entities. The role also works closely with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong support across development projects.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare complex financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with accounting standards.
- Complete tax returns including S-Corps, C-Corps, partnerships, trusts, and individuals.
- Create real estate project and cash flow projections.
- Oversee construction contracts for accuracy.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are properly recorded and classified.
- Complete month-end and year-end closing processes; including reconciling accounts, reviewing the general ledger, and preparing adjusting journal entries and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Calculate and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax filings.
- Perform financial statement compilations.
- Complete general accounting procedures including fixed assets, inventory, and intercompany accounting.
- Perform duties efficiently and with minimal errors.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/finance.
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Excel.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
