Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounting professional to manage accounting, financial reporting, and grant management for our non‑profit portfolio.

Academic requirement:
Bachelor’s degree, Accounting major.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of accounting in not‑for‑profits, strong accounts receivable, state and federal grant experience, month‑end close, preparation of monthly financial statements, and grant reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate centralized accounting and financial reporting for the assigned grant portfolio.
  • Create and prepare invoices, including state or federal contract invoices, billings, and oversee fund collections.
  • Ensure compliance with grant contracts, administrative guidelines, and federal, state, and local grant regulations.
  • Handle intercompany transactions between affiliated companies.
  • Coordinate with key personnel at all levels to support proper and timely expenditure of grant funds within budget deadlines.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing all applicable fiscal reports from the grant or contract portfolio and ensure timely submission.
  • Complete and reconcile accounts receivable monthly close, monitoring program status through lifecycle and maintaining the organization’s grant financial calendar.
  • Create and review monthly A/R subsidiary reports and reconciliations with the general ledger for assigned contracts and grants, and communicate issues regarding aged accounts receivable to the Controller.
  • Perform various month‑end financial statement close duties including multiple monthly and annual financial statement reports, billing spreadsheets, program census reports, donor‑restricted schedules, match expense reporting, and other grant reports and documentation as needed.
  • Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
  • Prepare audit worksheets, schedules, reports and supporting documentation for grant audits by federal, state, or related agencies.
  • Recommend improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting processes.
  • Assist in closing fiscal year‑end books and audits.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Prepare and enter daily, weekly, monthly journal entries, schedules, and reports, including indirect cost calculations for assigned contracts and grants.
  • Ensure accuracy of accounting data by preparing reconciliations to the general ledger.
  • Requirements
    • Accounts receivable experience, including working knowledge of accounts receivable and general ledger.
    • Not‑for‑profit experience.
    • Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting requirements related to federal, state, and other grants, cost accounting, government accounting and auditing.
    • Knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial record keeping and reporting.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of contract/grant administration and monitoring.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability.
    • Strong problem‑solving skills.
    • Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting software, preferably Acumatica, Work Day, and US Government Payment Management Systems.
