We are seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to oversee dealership accounting operations, maintain financial integrity, and support dealership leadership in achieving organizational goals.
Position SummaryThe Automotive Controller is responsible for managing all accounting and financial reporting functions. This position works closely with dealership leadership and corporate management to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and manufacturer reports
- Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Reconcile schedules and balance‑sheet accounts
- Ensure compliance with dealership accounting policies and procedures
- Monitor cash flow, flooring accounts, and financial performance metrics
- Review vehicle deals for proper accounting and posting
- Supervise and develop accounting office personnel
- Coordinate audits and maintain internal controls
- Work closely with General Managers and department leaders on budgeting and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and manufacturer requirements
- Assist with process improvement initiatives across the organization
- Minimum 8 years of automotive dealership accounting experience required
- Previous Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred
- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and accounting schedules
- Experience with dealership management systems (Dealer track, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar)
- Knowledge of manufacturer reporting requirements
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
