Position OverviewThe Controller / Accounting Manager will serve as the hands‑on leader of the accounting department and work closely with the CFO and executive leadership team. This individual will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day accounting operations, maintaining accurate project financials, overseeing WIP reporting, supporting cash flow visibility, and ensuring accounting processes are organized, timely, and accurate.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the day‑to‑day accounting function for the company.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate WIP schedules and project accounting reports.
- Oversee job costing, cost accounting, project reporting, and construction‑related financial analysis.
- Manage monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Review project costs, budgets, billings, draws, and related accounting activity.
- Support accounting for real estate development structures, entities, investments, and related transactions.
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations, loan documentation, debt service schedules, and lender‑related reporting.
- Partner with the CFO on cash flow reporting, forecasting, and financial visibility across active projects.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records, supporting schedules, and audit documentation.
- Manage and mentor accounting team members, including AP and administrative accounting support.
- Improve accounting processes, internal controls, workflows, and reporting standards.
- Coordinate with operations, development, construction, ownership, lenders, and outside advisors as needed.
- Serve as a hands‑on resource for both high‑level accounting leadership and transactional accounting support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Strong WIP and construction accounting experience required.
- Experience with industrial, commercial, multifamily, or real‑estate development accounting strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, cost reporting, and work‑in‑progress schedules.
- Experience with real‑estate entity structures, investments, debt, or development accounting is a plus.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred, but not required.
- Ability to operate as both a strategic accounting leader and a hands‑on working Controller.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, well‑supported financial information.
- Experience managing accounting staff, processes, and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with executive leadership and operations.
- Comfortable working onsite in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
