Accounting & Finance Assistant
Assists in the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, forecasting and analysis. Reviews, prepares, and reconciles financial statements and transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles. Analyzes financial and accounting data and processes to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement. As part of the Accounting & Finance department, performs various tasks, such as month-end closing, audit preparation and financial planning.
Assists with ad-hoc projects and initiatives as needed. Requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Focus on gaining knowledge and expertise in a targeted accounting area; learn end-to-end processes and accounting transactions. Build relationships with team and business area by providing accurate accounting transactions and fundamental analysis, reporting and metrics. Perform / assist with key accounting tasks including journal entries, analysis, reporting, and reconciliations. Support preparation of reports, graphs, and charts to illustrate and communicate key performance indicators.
Provide interpretation / explanation of business results to management and other stakeholders. Identify opportunities for process improvements. Document and communicate changes to assigned processes. Support ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
Entry individual contributor in a professional role. Receives detailed instructions and works under close review and supervision in a developmental environment. Applies learned theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies to work assignments. Majority of work efforts are focused on supporting implementation or delivery of processes, programs, and/or policies and are not typically difficult or complex. Learns how to develop internal working relationships.
0+ years of accounting experience. No previous professional experience required. Understanding of accounting functions. Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles. Foundational PC skills (MS Office, software and database skills). Fundamental analytical skills. Attention to detail. Strong verbal / written communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively work with all members of team and management. Ability to effectively communicate with team members and management.
Self-directed, motivated, and able to independently accomplish results with some supervision.
Bachelor's Degree or role-relevant experience.
Function in a fast-paced, office environment. Travel by car or plane with overnight stays. Work extended hours; sit for extended periods. Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
