As the Assistant Controller, you'll play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the organization and supporting a portfolio of active development and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Controller- Lead and support month-end close activities
- Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements, budgets, and management reports
- Reconcile and validate balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Monitor working capital and assist with project cash management, transfers, and wire activity
- Assemble, submit, and track construction loan draws and equity funding requests
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and project-level financial reporting
- Analyze job cost reporting and forecast project performance
- Partner closely with Development Directors to manage project budgets and financial outcomes
- Help enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Assist with audits, compliance requirements, and special projects
- Support the Controller with leadership initiatives and department development
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA preferred, but not required
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with full-cycle accounting responsibilities
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with Sage or similar ERP/accounting software
- Construction, development, project accounting, or real estate industry experience is highly preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
