Our client, a well‑established and financially stable insurance organization, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This position offers the opportunity to oversee multiple entities, mentor staff, drive process improvements, and play a key role in both financial reporting and strategic accounting initiatives.

What You’ll Do- Lead the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close process for multiple insurance entities.
- Prepare and review GAAP and statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.
- Oversee statutory reporting, annual statement preparation, and related financial reporting requirements.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and complex accounting transactions.
- Support external audits, regulatory examinations, and financial compliance activities.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff while partnering closely with senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and enhance internal controls.
- Participate in system enhancements and reporting automation initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within the insurance industry.
- Strong experience with STAT accounting and statutory financial reporting is required.
- Experience preparing or reviewing NAIC quarterly and annual statements.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Reinsurance accounting experience is a plus.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial reporting systems.
