We are seeking an experienced Temporary Payroll Specialist for an approximately 2–3 month contract engagement. This individual will provide hands‑on support to the payroll function, with a primary focus on payroll processing, multi‑state payroll administration, employee and tax registrations, unemployment matters, and resolving payroll tax fallouts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into an established payroll environment and independently researching and resolving payroll and tax‑related issues.
Responsibilities- Support accurate and timely payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees
- Assist with multi‑state payroll administration and compliance
- Utilize Ceridian Dayforce / Dayforce for payroll processing and related activities
- Research, identify, and resolve payroll tax fallouts and exceptions
- Handle state and local payroll tax registrations as needed
- Support employer/account registrations with applicable state and local agencies
- Assist with state unemployment (SUI) registrations, accounts, and related issues
- Research payroll tax notices, discrepancies, and jurisdictional issues
- Troubleshoot employee tax setup and withholding issues
- Review payroll data for accuracy and help resolve payroll discrepancies
- Coordinate with internal payroll, HR, finance, and external agencies as necessary
- Assist with additional payroll projects and cleanup activities throughout the engagement
- Previous hands‑on payroll processing experience required
- Experience supporting multi‑state payroll
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce / Dayforce strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxes
- Experience with payroll tax registrations and unemployment/SUI accounts
- Ability to research and resolve payroll tax exceptions, fallouts, notices, and discrepancies
- Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried populations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Comfortable joining an existing payroll operation and becoming productive quickly
- Prior experience supporting a large, multi‑location workforce is a plus
