A well-established organization in San Antonio is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position will play an important role in the company's accounting close, financial reporting, budgeting, audit support, and internal control processes.
The Accounting Manager will work with a high degree of independence and partner closely with the Corporate Controller and other stakeholders throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the monthly close and financial reporting process in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of month-end and annual financial reporting.
- Support the annual budgeting process and partner with budget owners across the organization.
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and assist with identifying appropriate actions.
- Assist with monitoring project expenditures against budget.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and operational procedures.
- Support continued improvements to the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls and safeguards surrounding revenue, costs, budgets, and expenditures.
- Support audit and compliance requirements.
- Participate in special projects and additional accounting initiatives as needed.
- Supervise and develop accounting team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- CPA or CPA-eligible candidates preferred.
- Approximately 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Previous public accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience with in a manufacturing, industrial, energy, or similarly complex operating environment is a plus.
- Project cost management experience is a plus.
- Experience working with a major ERP system preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively across the organization.
