Full Charge Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and keep financial records accurate and current for an Aviation Manufacturing company in San Antonio, Texas team. This position plays an important role in supporting business decisions by managing core bookkeeping functions, preparing meaningful financial reports, and bringing attention to issues that could affect cash flow, profitability, or compliance.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, handling multiple priorities, and communicating financial insights clearly to leadership.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the integrity of the general ledger by recording transactions accurately and maintaining complete financial documentation.

- Complete monthly reconciliations and contribute to closing activities by reviewing balances, researching variances, and resolving discrepancies.

- Administer the accounts payable cycle by reviewing invoices, assigning proper coding, coordinating approvals, updating vendor records, and issuing payments on schedule.

- Manage accounts receivable processes by generating invoices, applying incoming payments, following up on outstanding balances, and monitoring customer credit exposure.

- Reconcile bank activity and maintain reliable cash records while helping track liquidity and upcoming payment obligations.

- Process payroll accurately, validate pay-related data, preserve payroll documentation, and reconcile payroll accounts as needed.

- Support purchasing and inventory accounting by reviewing purchase order activity, comparing receiving and billing records, and addressing mismatches across related transactions.

- Assist with job costing and project-based financial tracking by monitoring revenue, expenses, and profitability across active work.

- Prepare financial and management reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, aging schedules, cash position summaries, and other operational analyses.

- Strengthen financial controls by identifying irregular transactions, duplicate payments, and process gaps while supporting audits and protecting confidential employee and company information.

Requirements

- At least 5 years of full-charge bookkeeping responsibilities.

- Demonstrated knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

- Solid understanding of core accounting concepts, including debits, credits, accruals, and general ledger activity.

- Proficiency with Quick Books and advanced Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and record maintenance.

- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines independently.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial concerns clearly to management.

- High level of discretion when handling sensitive financial and employee information.

- Experience in manufacturing, construction, aerospace, aviation, or other project-driven environments is preferred, especially with job costing, inventory accounting, purchase orders, collections, audits, and coordination with financial institutions or external accounting partners.
