Accounts Payable Clerk

Position: Accounts Payable Clerk 2
Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk 2 to join a manufacturing organization in San Antonio, Texas. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can manage large invoice volumes with precision while maintaining strong vendor and internal stakeholder relationships. The role supports day-to-day accounts payable operations, helps keep payment activity on schedule, and contributes to accurate financial recordkeeping in a fast-moving office environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review, code, and enter a high volume of vendor invoices while ensuring transactions align with company guidelines and payment timelines.

- Investigate billing discrepancies, missing documentation, and payment variances to support accurate resolution and timely processing.

- Serve as a point of contact for vendors by addressing payment status questions, account issues, and statement-related concerns.

- Partner with purchasing, receiving, and other internal teams to clear invoice exceptions and resolve accounts payable matters efficiently.

- Complete two-way and three-way matching by comparing invoices with purchase orders, receipts, and related backup documentation.

- Reconcile vendor statements, identify overdue or unmatched items, and take appropriate action to resolve outstanding balances.

- Assist with year-end reporting activities, including collecting vendor tax documentation and supporting 1099 preparation requirements.

- Track outstanding checks, research payment history, and coordinate voids or reissuances when needed.

- Maintain organized accounts payable records and recommend workflow improvements that strengthen accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

- Provide general accounting and administrative support as needed to help the department meet operational deadlines. Requirements - At least 3 years of hands-on accounts payable experience, with additional high-volume processing experience strongly valued.

- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related area is helpful.

- Working knowledge of invoice processing, account reconciliation, vendor maintenance, payment handling, and accounts payable controls.

- Experience performing two-way or three-way matching in a deadline-driven accounting environment.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel functions such as formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.

- Familiarity with accounting or ERP platforms such as CODA, Microsoft Dynamics AX, or similar financial systems.

- Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and problem-solving skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach when working with vendors and internal teams.
