Position Summary:
The Student Assistant will be responsible for providing support and completing tasks assigned specifically by the Department of Art within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS). The student will assist with various assignments and clerical duties that support the overall success and operation of the Art department.
This position is funded by the Federal Work‑Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work‑Study Program.
Essential Functions- Greet and assist visitors.
- Keyboarding skills, i.e. typing, word processing, data entry.
- Assist in general office procedures, i.e. copying, filing, etc.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student and department information.
- Delivery and pickup of mail and of materials to & from other campus offices.
- Conduct research on the internet.
- Provide support to other offices and departments as needed.
- Assist in exhibition installation within the galleries.
- Assist with events sponsored by the Art Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be mindful that the incumbent represents the Art Department, and thus must present a professional attitude and appearance.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Candidate must be a self‑starter, have the ability to work independently and be flexible in a constantly changing work environment.
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite specifically Adobe Photoshop.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
- Current UIW Student.
- Eligible to participate in the Federal Work‑Study program.
- Previous work experience in an office setting.
- Preference given to current Art majors.
- Some experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva is preferred.
- Work schedule to be determined, based on student schedule.
- Weekly work hours will be limited to 10 to 20 hours per week depending on the financial assistance award.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and move about campus.
