The Car Detailer / Auto Shop Assistant is responsible for cleaning, detailing, and maintaining the appearance of vehicles while providing general support to shop operations. This position assists mechanics and shop personnel with vehicle preparation, shop organization, basic maintenance tasks, parts pickup from suppliers, and customer service support as needed. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, dependability, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities Perform interior and exterior vehicle detailing including washing, waxing, polishing, vacuuming, shampooing, and cleaning upholstery, carpets, windows, wheels, and trim Restore and maintain vehicle appearance through proper use of cleaning products, detailing tools, and equipment

Conduct vehicle inspections before and after detailing services to identify and report damage or maintenance concerns

Assist mechanics with routine shop tasks, vehicle movement, parts retrieval, and workspace preparation

Clean and maintain shop facilities, service bays, detailing equipment, tools, and common work areas

Safely transport vehicles within company property and to designated customer locations as authorized

Assist with basic vehicle maintenance services such as checking fluid levels, replacing wiper blades, tire pressure checks, and other non-technical support tasks

Organize and stock detailing supplies, shop materials, and inventory to ensure operational readiness

Follow established procedures for the safe handling and disposal of chemicals, cleaning agents, and waste materials

Maintain accurate records of completed services, supplies used, and vehicle inspections as required

Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and materials from vendors, suppliers, and other designated locations as needed to support shop operations and minimize service dela Deliver professional and courteous customer service when interacting with clients, vendors, and coworkers

Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work area at all times

Adhere strictly to safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies

Qualifications & Requirements Education, Licensure & Experience High School Diploma or GED preferred1+ year of experience in automotive detailing, car wash operations, automotive service support, or a related field preferred

Experience operating detailing equipment, power washers, buffers, and related tools preferred

Detailer’s Certification preferred.

Skills & Capabilities Knowledge of vehicle cleaning products, detailing techniques, and equipment operation

Ability to identify cosmetic vehicle defects and maintain high-quality appearance standards

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision

Ability to effectively work and communicate with team members, customers, and supervisors

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Ability to work on a flexible work schedule

Possess and maintain a current valid state-issued driver's license with acceptable driving record

Ability to safely operate company vehicles when transporting parts, supplies, equipment, and customer vehicles

Ability to safely enter, exit, and maneuver vehicles of various sizes

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening prior to hire Comply with Drug-Free Workplace Policy

Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs.

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or physically demanding environments

Ability to work in shop conditions including exposure to noise, grease, and mechanical equipment

Position Classification, Travel & Expected Hours Of Work This is a non-exempt full/part-time position;
Work schedule varies and requires long hours and weekends.

Travel:
This position may require travel on occasion in order to meet contractual obligations to TRDI Enterprises’ clients and customers.
