Zing Recruiting, in partnership with an established automotive aftermarket manufacturer in the San Antonio, TX area, is seeking an Electronics Technician to join their R&D team! This is a direct-hire opportunity with a company that has nearly 50 years of experience in the automotive industry, offering a flexible Monday–Friday schedule, strong work-life balance, potential bonus opportunities, and hands‑on involvement in new product development.

This is not a repetitive production electronics role. The Electronics Technician will work directly with Engineering to build prototypes, troubleshoot electronic systems, refine designs, develop test setups, and help bring new automotive products from concept into production.

  Monday–Friday, flexible schedule typically around 6:00 am–3:00 pm or 7:00 am–4:00 pm
• Build prototype PCBAs and cable assemblies from engineering specifications and schematics
• Perform hands‑on soldering, wiring, crimping, circuit assembly, and electronic rework
• Modify and iterate on prototype builds as designs evolve
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electronic issues at the component, circuit, and system level
• Build and maintain test boxes, fixtures, wiring assemblies, and custom test setups
• Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and other electronic test equipment
• Perform functional and reliability testing on prototypes and existing products
• Inspect internal and vendor-built components to ensure quality and compliance
• Provide feedback to Engineering regarding manufacturability, troubleshooting findings, and potential design improvements
• Document testing, results, modifications, and design changes accurately
• Collaborate closely with Engineering to solve technical problems and support new products from development through manufacturing

Electronics Technician

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED is required; hands‑on technical experience is highly valued
• Hands‑on experience with soldering, wiring, electronic components, circuit boards, and circuit assembly
• Ability to read and work from electronic schematics
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electronic issues independently
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify issues beyond surface‑level symptoms
• Experience with PCB/PCBA assembly, repair, or rework is preferred
• Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and other electronic test equipment is preferred
• Experience with prototype development, cable assemblies, or wire harnesses is preferred
• Experience with Altium or other electronic CAD software is a plus
• Experience with Solid Works or other mechanical CAD software is a plus
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards is a plus
• Automotive or vehicle electrical‑system experience is preferred, but not required
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on clean, accurate, and reliable work
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision
• Must be willing to learn, adapt, and collaborate in a hands‑on R&D and manufacturing environment
