Job Description
Working under the general direction of the Director of Procurement, the Buyer is responsible for executing purchasing strategies that support efficient production operations and deliver cost-effective sourcing solutions. This role involves analyzing material requirements, managing supplier communications, and ensuring procurement processes align with company standards and goals. The Buyer works cross-functionally with teams in Research & Development, Sales & Marketing, and Production to support operational objectives, optimize inventory management, and ensure product quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders after analyzing MRP projections
- Ensure purchase order information is accuracte and updates are made as necessary
- Research and respond to questions about cost of goods and material usage
- Implement cost-saving opportunities by identifying alternative materials or sourcing strategies that maintain quality and customer value.
- Execute action plans to minimize the impact of material shortages or supply constraints on production operations
- Prepare contract requests for review and approval
- Enter and maintain all documents in the company database to include SQF ingredient registers and SQF supplier registers
- BA/BS Degree is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 3–5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in raw materials and/or packaging within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiation.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite and experienced with ERP/MRP inventory management systems.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently while working autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food manufacturing and distribution processes, including material handling and supply chain coordination.
