Job Summary
The Business Analyst serves as a departmental resource for business analysis, operational assessment, process improvement, and strategic initiative support related to departmental operations and institutional priorities. This position supports initiatives in the Office of the President by contributing to analytics, insights, and frameworks that inform executive decision‑making and advance institutional strategy. The role assists in translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes, providing data‑informed analysis to support integration efforts, institutional performance, and community impact.
This role supports strategic decision‑making by developing and maintaining dashboards, metrics, and analytic frameworks that translate institutional goals into measurable performance indicators. It synthesizes cross‑campus analyses, benchmarking, and external research into actionable insights, partnering with project managers and leaders to align data, reporting, and impact measures with initiative execution.
The Business Analyst works collaboratively with cross‑functional stakeholders to identify business needs, analyze operational challenges, evaluate processes, and recommend data‑informed solutions that improve organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and alignment with institutional objectives. This role requires strong analytical, communication, problem‑solving, and project coordination skills, along with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Salary Range$60,900 - $67,450 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Core Responsibilities- Review and document departmental processes and workflows, and recommend process improvements.
- Review and update departmental policies, procedures and guidelines on a regular basis.
- Research and identify specific requirements for systems and process development or modifications.
- Document business requirements, functional specifications, workflows and recommendations for process and system enhancements.
- Develop, implement and support business processes and tools.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, scorecards and data visualizations to support executive reporting and organizational performance tracking.
- Based on short and long‑term organization goals, develop and/or revise appropriate performance metrics and ensure goals and metrics are fully communicated to relevant parties.
- Analyze institutional, operational, and performance data to identify trends, measure outcomes and support strategic decision‑making.
- Conduct analysis of departmental resource requirements and recommend solutions for skills, equipment and automation gaps as appropriate.
- Recommend alternatives to address problems.
- Collaborate with project managers, departmental leaders and stakeholders to support implementation planning, change management and initiative execution.
- Develop presentations, summaries, reports and executive briefing materials to communicate findings, recommendations and project outcomes.
- Utilize reporting, analytics and business intelligence tools to support data analysis and performance monitoring.
- Monitor initiative progress and assist in tracking key milestones, deliverables and organizational impact measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
