Analyst General Business

The General Business Analyst role on the Commodities Team in Supply Chain is responsible for ensuring the availability of materials and inventory required to support ongoing business operations and strategic initiatives. This role monitors inventory and commodity performance and works to identify and mitigate potential supply risks that may impact business needs. The position serves as a key liaison between business units, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, developing strong working relationships and becoming a trusted partner in understanding operational requirements, project demands, and material needs.

Through collaboration with cross-functional teams, the General Business Analyst provides insights, coordination, and support to ensure timely material availability, effective inventory management, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Tasks and responsibilities include supporting inventory ability by assisting with material planning, forecasting, and replenishment activities; gathering and organizing information on problems or procedures; monitoring inventory levels and material requirements to support operational needs; maintaining data in SAP; analyzing data gathered and developing solutions or alternative methods of proceeding; assisting in identifying and communicating potential material shortages and supply disruptions; researching and resolving invoice discrepancies by partnering with Accounts Payable, suppliers, and internal stakeholders;

supporting inventory planning activities by analyzing historical usage, demand trends, and replenishment requirements; partnering with warehouse personnel to understand material needs and priorities; utilizing reports, spreadsheets, and system tools to monitor inventory and support daily business operations; developing and maintaining effective working relationships with suppliers and internal business partners to support operational success; and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum skills include understanding processes and procedures in a specialized field, setting priorities, organizing work, making occasional exceptions, multi-tasking various critical work assignments in a fast-paced environment in a professional manner, working independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results, well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel, ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision, effective interpersonal and customer service skills, ability to make recommendations and independent decisions, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel, proficiency in SAP, and relative experience in supporting utility construction and maintenance.

Competencies include communicating effectively, working with ambiguity, creating and maintaining networks, driving for results, and demonstrating initiative.

Minimum education required is a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Technology, Accounting, Finance, or other quantitative field or equivalent work experience.

Required certifications are none.

Working environment includes indoor work, operating a computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, and calculator. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events in and outside of service area. After hours work may be required. Physical demands include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
