Job Summary The Assistant or Associate Dean of Initiatives and Operations provides senior-level leadership, strategic oversight, and administrative management for college-wide operations and institutional initiatives. The position leads efforts to strengthen operational excellence, administrative infrastructure, and cross-college coordination while advancing high-priority projects on behalf of the Dean and college leadership. This role fosters efficient, data‑driven, and innovative practices that support faculty, staff, students, and academic programs, ensuring alignment with institutional strategic goals.

Responsibilities
Provides leadership for college-wide operational and administrative functions, ensuring alignment with university strategy, standards, and long-term objectives.Leads strategic and operational planning related to organizational structure, staffing, administrative processes, resource allocation, and long-term capacity.Serves as a senior advisor to the Dean on matters involving operations, policy implementation, organizational effectiveness, and cross‑university coordination.Oversees administrative units and functions within the Dean's Office, ensuring consistent, high-quality, and efficient execution of day‑to‑day operations.Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies, procedures, and internal controls that support compliance, transparency, and accountability.Leads high-impact strategic initiatives and projects, providing robust project management (scope, timeline, risk, execution, assessment) for cross‑functional initiatives involving multiple academic and administrative units.Supports division and college communications through the preparation of briefings, presentations, executive summaries, talking points, and reports for senior leadership and external stakeholders.Directs the development of reports, forecasting models, operational analytics, and data dashboards related to enrollment, personnel, academic programs, and resource planning. Standardizes data practices across administrative units for consistency and accuracy.Translates data into actionable insights to inform strategic planning, policy decisions, and operational improvements.Provides executive leadership for space allocation, utilization, long-range planning, and renovation prioritization across the college.Builds and sustains collaborative partnerships with department chairs, associate deans, faculty leaders, and university administrative divisions to advance institutional priorities.Represents the college in senior‑level meetings, university committees, task forces, and initiatives; serves as a senior point of contact for operational matters that require alignment across colleges or central units.Leads process improvement efforts that optimize administrative workflows, streamline operations, and enhance service delivery.Identifies and advances opportunities for technology integration, automation, and innovative operational models to enhance effectiveness.Provides strategic consultation to college leadership, responding with flexibility to emerging priorities, special projects, institutional needs, and assignments as directed by the Dean.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Seven (7) years of related work experience.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO‑GA‑48.
