At Darwin Homes, we fundamentally believe that the rental experience is broken. Too often, property management—serving as the middleman between investors and residents—often means shoddy service, hidden fees, and inefficient processes that shortchange everybody involved. Darwin was built to make residents' and owners' lives easier through an innovative ecosystem of technologies. We have created the best product in the market for residents to discover, tour, and lease their future home;
and for owners to have complete peace of mind from our modern management and leasing services built around our core values of transparency and professionalism. Darwin Homes is the destination for single-family rental services for property owners and residents.
The Darwin Homes team is composed of a diverse set of alumni from Door Dash, Square, Facebook, Apple, Linked In, and other top technology companies. The founders and executive team have over 30+ years of combined experience in scaling disruptive technology and operations-focused businesses. Darwin Homes was backed by top Silicon Valley venture capital (Khosla, Fifth Wall) and was acquired by Pagaya Technologies, a publicly traded company, in early 2023.
Pagaya is an AI/ML data technology company with offices in Tel Aviv and New York.
Darwin Homes is seeking an Operational Compliance Manager to lead operational compliance across our property management platform and serve as the primary operational liaison for legal and compliance matters. This is a hands‑on role with substantial independent responsibility for assessing risk, establishing practical compliance systems, and ensuring operating practices align with applicable laws, regulations, policies, contractual obligations, and internal standards.
You will work directly across Darwin's operations, reviewing workflows, resident interactions, notices, transactions, system processes, documentation, complaints, disputes, and exceptions to identify areas of potential compliance or legal exposure and ensure appropriate controls and remediation are in place.
This role will partner closely with Pagaya Legal and Compliance, internal legal support, outside counsel, and Darwin leadership. The Manager must exercise sound judgment about when legal review or specialized guidance is necessary, present complete and objective information, and translate counsel's guidance into clear operational actions.
Success means building a consistent, documented operating environment in which material risks are proactively identified and appropriately escalated, controls are implemented and tested, and corrective actions are tracked through verified completion. Teams understand the standards that apply to their work and can demonstrate that learning is reflected in daily practice.
Work Environment and Independent AccountabilityOperate in a remote, cross‑functional environment with evolving processes, competing priorities, and requirements that vary across markets. Independently organize work, identify gaps without waiting for direction, and build structure where standards or processes are not yet established.
Own the quality and timeliness of assessments, recommendations, documentation, escalation, and remediation tracking. Exercise discretion within delegated authority and established policies, seek legal interpretation from counsel when needed, and obtain leadership decisions or approvals where required. Partner with operational leaders who remain accountable for execution within their teams.
Communicate proactively and professionally across all operational teams.…
