Senior Estimator – OverviewThe Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and completing bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. As the Lead Estimator, you will collaborate with other estimators, suppliers, and customers to complete the estimate.
Responsibilities- Prepare estimates from quantity take‑offs and complete deliverable reports to print.
- Identify key project elements that enable a competitive estimate.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre‑bid meetings to determine scope of work.
- Evaluate opportunities for value engineering cost savings.
- Lead personnel preparing discipline sub‑estimates for assigned bids.
- Maintain all working documents and data to support estimate figures.
- Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data.
- Create detailed material and equipment listings and obtain supplier quotes.
- Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and review quote completeness and compliance.
- Ensure timely completion of all client‑required documents.
- Draft scope/proposal letters for bids and negotiated projects.
- Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing before the bid package is issued.
- After a successful bid, work with Project Management to explain job scope and transition details.
- Maintain files of all working documents and update Rosendin’s approved estimating program.
General duties are provided for background only; additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business unit needs.
Qualifications- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
- Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
- Estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work effort.
- Mentor and assist with the development of estimators.
- Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary.
- Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of estimating or closing construction estimates experience.
- Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
- Experience with CAD or 3‑D software preferred.
- A combination of education, training, and relevant experience is acceptable.
- Up to 10%
- General environment includes sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending; conducted primarily indoors with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Noise level is typically low to medium; can be loud on a job site.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
