Senior Preconstruction Manager Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough project details list including bridging documents, design updates, pricing, and proposal submission.
- Strategically plan and organize project design, attending client design meetings to review cost savings and constructability.
- Understand company philosophy and system objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate boundaries.
- Maintain liaison with the design team and operations until the project is awarded.
- Ensure a successful handoff of the project to the Operations team.
- Supervise preparation and presentation of all pricing quotations to the prime customer.
- Actively manage preconstruction staff workload, professional development, and client development skills.
- Analyze available preconstruction personnel and assign specific project roles to meet pursuit goals.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts during preconstruction to protect company interests while maintaining client relationships.
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in the construction industry, preferably with an electrical contractor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
- Knowledge of design‑build, design‑assist, IPD, Lean, and LEED concepts.
- Experience in the Northwest and Portland Metro construction markets (plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
Oracle and Accubid experience preferred. - Strong communication skills with owners, architects, design consultants, and vendors.
- Ability to make independent decisions that impact profitability.
- Self‑starter, proactive, and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks under changing priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication and presenting to all levels of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to mentor and manage staff, fostering a professional and teamwork mindset.
Travel may be up to 100% of the work time. General work environment involves sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. Work occurs primarily indoors under fluorescent lighting and air conditioning with low to moderate noise levels, and sometimes at job sites where conditions vary.
