The Construction Inspector is a full‑time hybrid role based in San Antonio, TX, with a combination of on‑site field work and some work in office tasks. The individual in this role will perform site inspections on civil, vertical, land development projects to verify that construction activities comply with plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include observing and documenting construction activities, inspecting materials and workmanship, focusing on asphalt and other civil construction elements, and preparing detailed inspection reports.
The Construction Inspector will collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to address nonconformities, support quality control processes, and help resolve field issues in a timely manner. The role also involves tracking project progress, communicating findings to the project team, and contributing to continuous improvement of construction management practices.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Site Inspections and general Inspection for civil, vertical, and land development projects.
- Candidates should possess skills in Quality Control to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Asphalt and related construction materials, methods, and testing procedures.
- Candidates should possess skills in Construction Coordination, including coordination with contractors, documentation, and progress tracking.
- Relevant experience in civil engineering, construction inspection, or a related field; prior work on municipal or transportation projects is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in preparing clear field reports and maintaining accurate records.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work safely in outdoor and active construction environments.
- Familiarity with basic surveying principles, inspection tools, roadway, sidewalk, storm water, water, sewer, and with a basic understanding of vertical construction with a strong emphasis on project plans, specifications and contract documents.
