- Associate Degree or Technical Degree required.
- Experience or knowledge in cost planning, cost estimating, project cost control, or construction financial management.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reconciliation.
- Experience with or knowledge of material quantity take-offs and construction cost estimating.
- Familiarity with architectural and engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BIM models.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), including EAC and VAC calculations.
- Ability to review and analyse subcontractor bids, change orders, payment applications, and financial documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
We are seeking a Cost Planning & Estimating Analyst to support project cost management and financial control activities in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge in cost estimating, budgeting, quantity take-offs, value engineering, cost control, and construction financial management. This role will work closely with project, procurement, and vendor teams to ensure accurate project budgets, financial tracking, forecasting, and cost reconciliation.
What you’ll be doing :- Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed design-phase cost estimates.
- Establish accurate baseline budgets and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
- Perform comprehensive Quantity Take-offs (QTO) using architectural and engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BIM models.
- Conduct Value Engineering (VE) analyses to identify cost-saving alternatives while maintaining structural integrity and design intent.
- Monitor project expenditures, committed costs, and work-in-place using Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Calculate and track Variance at Completion (VAC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
- Develop and update monthly cash flow forecasts and draw schedules.
- Review, audit, negotiate, and validate subcontractor change order requests.
- Evaluate change order pricing against market rates and contract allowances.
- Assist procurement teams with scope package development and trade contractor bid evaluations.
- Perform financial risk assessments for major vendors and subcontractors.
- Review monthly payment applications, including G702/G703, and verify them against field progress.
- Review lien waivers and supporting documentation before payment authorization.
- Support project closeout activities, including final financial reconciliations and contingency settlement.
- Audit final subcontractor accounts and ensure accurate project cost reporting.
