- Lead the implementation and enforcement of site-specific safety plans and company safety programs
- Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, and ensure timely corrective actions
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Maintain safety documentation, including incident reports, audit findings, and compliance records
- Evaluate safety performance trends and recommend improvements to reduce risk and incidents
- Serve as the primary safety point of contact on assigned projects
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to address safety risks
- Identify hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors and drive immediate corrective actions
- Participate in pre-construction and planning activities to integrate safety into project execution
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions
- Deliver and facilitate safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks
- Coach field personnel on safe work practices and regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Safety Coordinators and less experienced team members
- Partner with HR and leadership on return-to-work programs and safety-related processes
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to incorporate safety into project planning
- Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, tools, and programs
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
- Travel between job sites and inspect active construction environments
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, or related field required
- Minimum 5+ years of safety experience, preferably in construction industry required
- OSHA 30-hour certification required
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices required
- Proven ability to independently manage safety on active jobsites required
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and implementing corrective actions required
- Strong communication and influencing skills with ability to engage field teams required
- Ability to analyze risk and recommend practical safety solutions required
- Ability to travel between job sites; occasional overnight travel may be required
- Valid driver’s license required
- CHST, CSP, or other safety certification preferred
- Experience supporting large or complex construction projects preferred
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior safety staff preferred
Demonstrates expertise in implementing and enforcing safety plans, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. Proven ability to mentor teams and analyze risks to enhance safety performance in construction environments.
