General Notes Marketing and Communications is the creative and marketing team for Texas Global, showcasing the depth and breadth of the University’s global engagement activities across campus and abroad, supporting the mission of the University and enhancing its reputation around the world through strategic messaging, branding, and storytelling.
PurposeTexas Global is seeking a creative and detail-oriented graduate student with a background in photography, videography, multimedia editing and production, and digital asset management to assist with the Marketing and Communications team’s visual storytelling. This position offers hands‑on experience in organizing and executing photo and video shoots, editing videos and photos, assisting in the organization our visual library, and collaborating with our team to enhance and promote our global portfolio through dynamic visual storytelling.
ResponsibilitiesPhotography, Editing and Asset Management Conduct professional headshot and portrait sessions for Texas Global faculty, staff, students, and leadership. Capture and edit high‑quality photography for events, programs, marketing campaigns, and editorial stories. Organize, tag, archive, and maintain photo and video assets within Texas Global's visual library and digital asset management systems. Edit and optimize photos for use across web, social media, print, email, and other marketing channels.
Assist in developing and maintaining workflows, file naming conventions, metadata standards, and asset organization practices.
Story Capture and Development Collaborate with writers, designers, and marketers to identify visual storytelling opportunities that support strategic communications goals. Interview and document students, faculty, staff, alumni, researchers, and program participants through visual storytelling. Research story ideas and assist in planning visual coverage for key events and initiatives.
Multimedia Content Creation Create and edit photo essays, image galleries, short‑form videos, and other visual content for Texas Global's website and digital platforms. Capture and edit basic video content to support marketing campaigns, social media, and web storytelling. Assist with video shoots, production logistics, and post‑production editing as needed. Collaborate with social media and web teams to maximize the use of visual assets across platforms.
Required Qualifications- Demonstrated proficiency in photography, including portrait, event, and documentary‑style photography.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience editing and organizing large collections of digital photo assets.
- Knowledge of photography equipment, lighting techniques, and camera operation.
- One or more years of experience or coursework in photography, visual storytelling, multimedia production, journalism, communications, or a related filed.
- Pursuing a graduate degree in communications, journalism, visual arts, information studies, marketing, or a related discipline.
- Ability to independently plan, execute, and edit photography projects from capture through final delivery.
- Basic video capture and editing skills.
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, collaborative, and highly organized with strong time‑management skills.
- Strong cross‑cultural competency and ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with international students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating portrait, event, or editorial photography.
- Experience with digital asset management systems, image cataloging, metadata, and archival best practices.
