Position Summary
The UIWtv Program Director (PD) is responsible for the programming of the UIWtv station. The PD manages personnel and oversees all stories and programs related to UIWtv. The PD conducts rehearsals and assists in pre-production for live programs. The UIWtv Program Director reports to the COMM / FILM Faculty, Senior Instructor.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a Communication Arts Student Officer for UIWtv.
- Manage the daily operations of UIWtv.
- Promote education while serving the university as a positive, reliable, and entertaining source of campus news, sports, and events.
- Responsible for the programming of the UIWtv station.
- Manage personnel and oversee all stories and programs related to UIWtv.
- Conduct rehearsal and assist in pre-production for live programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to shoot, write, and edit News Packages and VO/ SOTS .
- Knowledge of Premiere Pro, camera equipment, and strong writing skills.
- Team player with a willingness to help and mentor students.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
Required Education
UIW Communication Arts student.
Required Work Experience
None.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of COMM 3395 TV Practicum or COMM 3353 Broadcast Journalism.
- Knowledge of Tri Caster production switcher.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.
Work Hours
- Must be available for rehearsals and live broadcasts.
- Rehearsals and broadcasts will be every other Thursday from 11am
-1pm. - Additional rehearsals will be scheduled based on the availability of the Officers and News Talent.
