Grow the San Antonio Report’s community connection
The San Antonio Report (SAR), a primary digital news brand of Texas Public Radio (TPR), is seeking a strategic, collaborative and detail-oriented Community Engagement Editor to strengthen content strategy and lead audience engagement efforts.
Based in San Antonio, you will be responsible for editing and producing high
-quality newsletters, commentary, and digital content while strengthening connections between the newsroom and the community.
- Reading and sorting commentary submissions by non-staff authors
- Soliciting commentary submissions from story comment sections or social media
- posts
- Working with non-staff authors to create clear and concise content
- Editing content for style and grammar
- Soliciting photos and/or organizing photo opportunities with staff photographers
- Entry-level position requires college experience or 1-year experience gathering
- or producing news and information primarily online
- Excellent editorial judgment
- Strong writing, copy editing, line-editing, headline, summary and photo cutline writing, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style
- Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker
- Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills
- Ease with/ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
- Comfortable adapting to changes in evolving industry and thrives under pressure Self-motivated, competitive spirit and assertive personality with ability to balance multiple competing projects and priorities
- Strong social skills, able to work with writers and editors to present their content in the best way
- Schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)
- Proficiency in Word Press and Spanish fluency is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
