The Community Assistant (CA) role is a leadership and career development opportunity that goes beyond a part-time job. The CA helps create a supportive and vibrant living environment within a student housing community. CAs assist with marketing and leasing, support residents, promote engagement, and help maintain a safe and inclusive atmosphere. The Community Assistant serves as a resource, provides customer service, and contributes to the residents’ well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to residents, prospective residents, and guests. Create a welcoming atmosphere by promptly addressing concerns, maintaining a clean and organized community space, and ensuring a positive resident experience.
  • Resident Support: Assist residents with inquiries, concerns, and requests. Be a knowledgeable resource on policies, procedures, and services. Provide guidance and referrals to campus resources when necessary.
  • Leasing & Marketing: Participate in outreach marketing, social media, tours, digital inquiries, calls, and visits; involved in the sales process as part of the team.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and implement activities and programs that foster community spirit and involvement. Collaborate with staff to promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage resident inquiries, maintain records, support room assignments, move-ins, and move-outs. Maintain bulletin boards and communications channels.
  • Safety and Security: Promote a safe living environment by enforcing policies, reporting issues, and assisting with emergency response as needed.

    Collaboration:

    Work with staff to ensure cohesive operations. Attend meetings, trainings, and support Resident Directors as needed.
  • Other: Participation in the “turn” process and additional responsibilities as required by the housing community.
Essential

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor others; strong teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer use and ability to learn software applications.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional events; on-call for emergencies.
  • Knowledge of campus resources or willingness to learn; commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Current account in good standing (if current resident).
