Dental Assistant; Pool

Under direct supervision, supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials. Provides assistance to faculty, residents, and students in the clinic. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Responsibilities include:

• Setting up treatment rooms for procedures, including trays, instruments, and supplies; cleaning and preparing chairs before and after appointments.
• Taking and developing digital x-rays, assisting with oral examinations and patient charting.
• Preparing patients for treatment, including taking vitals.
• Passing instruments and performing routine procedures.
• Managing and scheduling patient appointments; maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Good hand skills for working in tight quarters with precise tools.
• Ability to work closely with patients, faculty, and students.
• Good listening skills.
• Detail-oriented with organizational skills and the ability to handle emergent requirements.
• Ability to monitor complex projects concurrently.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and email software.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

License and Certification: Registry with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) required; new hires must obtain license within one year.

Experience: One year of related experience or completion of an approved dental assistant course required.
