The Design Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in San Antonio, TX. This position leads the design department, ensures that signage concepts meet client requirements, brand standards, and regulatory guidelines, and mentors technical designers.
The role coordinates workflows, reviews design deliverables for quality, accuracy, feasibility in manufacturing and installation, and supports ongoing improvements to design capabilities.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and production teams to translate project scopes into detailed design packages.
- Manage timelines and priorities for design activities and resolve design-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee design processes to ensure compliance with client requirements, brand standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead, mentor, and manage technical designers; coordinate cross-functional work to maintain design quality and consistency.
- Contribute to process improvements, maintain design documentation and standards, and support the continuous enhancement of design capabilities.
- Proven experience in design management, preferably in signage, architectural, or environmental graphics industries.
- Strong skills in CAD, vector-based design, and layout software (e.g., AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, or similar tools).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, site plans, specifications, and building codes related to signage.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, including mentoring designers and coordinating cross-functional work.
- Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills, with experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, engineers, project managers, and production teams.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality control, ensuring designs are accurate, buildable, and cost-effective.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in manufacturing or construction environments and knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and installation practices is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in San Antonio, TX, and comply with all workplace safety and company policies.
