Position Overview

The VDC Manager is responsible for establishing and leading Virtual Design and Construction capabilities within Catamount. This role defines how digital modelling, coordination, and reality capture are leveraged to improve project delivery across Catamount. The VDC Manager will build this function from the ground up, develop standards, support project teams, and advance technology aligned with the needs of complex construction work.

Role

& Responsibilities
  • Establish and continuously improve VDC standards, workflows, and best practices that can be consistently applied across teams and job sites.
  • Evaluate and optimise VDC tools and technology to support industrial and complex construction needs.
  • Support Pursuit & Preconstruction Efforts
    • In partnership with business development and preconstruction, develop models and visualisations that communicate logistics, phasing, and complex construction approaches to clients.
    • Identify design gaps, coordination risks, and constructability challenges early to inform pricing and strategy.
    • Lead constructability and coordination reviews during preconstruction to ensure design documents meet a high standard of care, are fully buildable, and support accurate pricing and planning.
  • Drive Project Execution & Coordination
    • Lead multi‑disciplinary coordination across architectural, structural, MEP, and site/underground systems.
    • Advance constructability efforts during construction by translating coordinated design models into clear, usable construction tools (3D models, clash detection outputs, and field‑ready information) that support project execution.
    • Manage clash detection and model integration to reduce RFIs, rework, and field conflicts.
  • Advance Reality Capture, Site Modelling & Digital Construction
    • Integrate point cloud data and laser scanning into models to accurately represent existing conditions.
    • Develop site and logistics models, including grading, haul routes, laydown areas, and sequencing plans.
    • Perform and support earthwork analysis, including cut/fill studies and optimisation of site balance.
    • Utilise drone and survey data to inform planning, progress tracking, and site verification.
    • Identify and implement innovative digital tools that improve field execution, not just design coordination.
  • Capability Building & Change Management
    • Serve as the VDC leader for business units, building awareness, trust, and adoption across teams embedding VDC into how teams pursue, plan, and execute work.
    • Tailor training from high‑level awareness (tools and capabilities and workflows) to role‑specific application for Project Engineers, APMs, PMs, and Superintendents in the field.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant architectural or engineering discipline required.
  • 5+ years of experience in VDC, BIM, or digital construction within the AEC industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with reality capture technologies, including laser scanning, point clouds, and drone data.
  • Experience supporting both preconstruction and project execution phases.
  • Familiarity with reality capture technologies, including laser scanning, point clouds, and drone data.
  • Exposure to site modelling, grading, or earthwork analysis tools and workflows preferred.
  • Anticipated travel ranges from 25–50% depending on project needs and phase; presence on job sites is expected during key preconstruction and early execution phases to support planning and coordination.
Compensation
  • Competitive base pay plus eligibility for additional incentives for merit/performance, project incentives, new‑hire…
