The UT San Antonio School of Dentistry, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS), seeks a highly motivated and clinically skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic academic and surgical team. This position functions under the supervision of an oral surgeon and involves comprehensive patient care across outpatient and hospital‑based settings.
Position OverviewThe PA will play a critical role in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with oral and maxillofacial conditions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations.
- Develop differential diagnoses and treatment plans independently and in conjunction with oral surgeons.
- Order and interpret labs and imaging (CBCT, CT, MRI, radiographs).
- Manage pre/postoperative care including infections, pain, and wound care.
- Educate patients on procedures, risks, benefits, alternatives, and recovery.
- Assist in the operating room on a rotational hospital basis.
- Participate in hospital rounds, emergency department consults, and interdisciplinary care.
- Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation.
- Coordinate care effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Facial trauma, odontogenic infections, pathology, TMJ disorders, dentoalveolar surgery, orthognathic surgery, clinical procedures, craniofacial evaluations, and perioperative patient management.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited PA program
- Must have Texas PA license
- NCCPA board certified
- DEA certification preferred
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or surgical experience preferred

Dental – Three dental insurance plan options are available for employees and their families through Delta Dental Insurance Company, two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Both PPO plans allow employees to choose any licensed dentist.
Vision – Fully insured Vision Care benefits are offered by Superior Vision Services. Two vision plan options that offer either standard or enhanced vision benefits.
Disability – Employees can enroll in the Disability Insurance which provides income if a non‑work related illness or injury prevents you from working.
