Substitute Teacher

Position: Substitute Teacher 2025-2026 School Year

Purpose:

Substitute teachers are:

Responsible for delivery of the instructional program.

Responsible for the care, welfare, safety, and security of students in the classroom.

Works closely with other school staff to ensure effective learning in the school.

Keep students focused and follow the teachers lesson plan.

Reports to:

Principal

Qualifications:

At minimum, high school diploma or GED (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of SBEC fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable one time fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant.

Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to instruct student and manage their behavior.

Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Dependable attendance and punctuality are key requirements of this position.

Responsibility and Duties:

Be a positive role model for students and support the goals of the campus and school district.

Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Comply with district, and school regulations and policies.

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
