Position Summary

The Project Transformation (PT) Program Director’s primary responsibility is for maintaining the coordination, implementation, and administration of all summer camp and after school programming. The Program Director is directly responsible for creating a positive, fun atmosphere where children and families feel safe, welcomed, and supported. This role will train, supervise, mentor and coach PT’s college-age summer interns and after school assistants on all areas of program implementation and behavior management following PT’s guidelines on a restorative practices approach to discipline based on respect, responsibility, relationship-building, and relationship-repairing.

Working in partnership with PT’s site churches and partners, the Program Director will assist with outreach to recruit and maintain child/family enrollment. The Program Director will also represent PT in the community and serve on organization or community committees, as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Model Project Transformation’s core values: mutual relationships, intentional community, connectional ministry, discernment of purpose, empowerment of young people, servant leadership, holistic development, and Wesleyan practice of faith.
  • With oversight of CEO, develops and maintains department budget and communicates needs with Director of Operations and Finance.
  • Oversees the literacy program including the oversight of testing methods, reading program tools, and data collection, as well as helping create and maintain site libraries.
  • Serves as staff liaison to the Program Committee, providing program updates.
  • In concert with the Young Adult Development Director, creates and implements training for all summer collegiate staff.
  • Oversees the collection of all required program paperwork and data, as well as managing program data and reporting.
  • Visits program sites throughout the week and provides daily and ongoing coaching and support for the professional and personal development of interns.
  • Manages and maintains food program partnerships with community partners.
  • Manages implementation of after school programming including virtual programming and oversees development and management of volunteer vetting, training and support in concert with Director of Finance and Operations.
  • Maintains community partnerships that support holistic learning for program participants.
  • Collaborates with Project Transformation National on program curriculum and program resources.
  • Responsible for management of program supplies.
  • Supports site churches in building and maintaining relationships with schools, church staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Attends intern dinners, worship, and Friday Experiences throughout the program to build relationships with interns and make announcements.
  • Complete other tasks and team related duties as assigned to ensure mission and work of the Project Transformation programs are appropriately fulfilled.
  • Works with collaborative partners and other providers to implement programs that reinforce program success.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education preferred.
  • An enthusiastic, highly motivated personality with the desire to serve others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ideal candidate is a problem solver who is well organized, methodical, detail oriented and good at delegating.
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to relate effectively to people from all social and economic backgrounds. Strong understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and experience successfully integrating these principles into organizational policies, practices, management, and culture.
  • Spanish language skills are not required but highly beneficial.
