Position Information
Assistant Professor of Practice/Instruction – The University of Texas at San Antonio University College, The Writing Program invites applications for the Assistant Professor of Practice/Instruction.
The Writing Program in University College at UT San Antonio consists of 30 fixed‑term‑track faculty members and staff and teaches the Communication component of UT San Antonio’s Core Curriculum. It offers multiple sections of Freshman Composition I and II (required Core courses), as well as honors‑specific and topic courses.
Salary RangeProfessor of Practice:
Up to $45,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Professor of Instruction:
Up to $49,300 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Full Time
Qualifications- Professor of Practice: Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, or other related field.
- Professor of Instruction: Ph.D. degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, or other related field.
- Teaching credentials that include experience in teaching Freshman Composition (or similar writing courses).
- Evidence of the ability to incorporate active or experiential learning, or other evidence‑based pedagogy.
- Evidence of integrating technology into instruction, online teaching, or using other emerging technologies.
- Teaching experience at an institution of higher education and qualifications comparable to those of faculty members in the fixed‑term track or tenure‑track positions.
- Evidence of service to the field or profession through committee service at a department, college, or university level.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
