Summary: The Biomedical Equipment Technician Technical Instructor will support and provide training services with tasks including assisting in conducting training and providing subject-matter expertise. Specific objectives are to achieve student success through the performance of the training and provide accurate and timely technical information and support to leadership.

The primary task is providing classroom or related instruction under the supervision of the Program Director. Instructors plan and provide student instruction in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines and required program standards. Services for this contract will be provided at Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston Military Education and Training Campus (METC) or MEDCoE to include a classroom, office, and in a simulation, laboratory setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform the duties and tasks of an instructor for the 326-68A10 Biomedical Equipment Technician Program in a manner that establishes and maintains a good learning and working environment, instructing students, administering the course, in concert and coordination with Government instructors (i.e., training team), and according to criteria and guidance established by the MEDCoE and Program Director.
  • Conduct classroom and laboratory instruction (i.e., teach) of any/all lesson topics in the courses using the approved course materials and methods that are likely to ensure that students meet established learning objectives.
  • Prepare cases, set up, and administer/conduct practical exercises.
  • Assist in development, set up, administer, and grade written and practical examinations as well as perform appropriate statistical analysis on exam results in accordance with the policies and guidelines provided.
  • Instruction may be conducted in a virtual environment over the internet using programs such as Blackboard, Microsoft TEAMS, ZOOM, or other virtual enhancement programs. This may require monitoring and responding to questions or message board information/requests.
  • Provide SME/scientific technical support that is technically accurate, insightful, and creative; contribute to technical scientific discussions in a manner that is positive contribution to group/teamwork.
  • Perform course administrative functions including maintaining student and course administrative records, organizing training materials, and identifying supply needs.
  • Perform typical training logistics activities such as using supplies and equipment in accordance with Plan of Instruction, maintaining the order and cleanliness of the training facility as needed, and assisting with setting up and moving furniture and equipment within the facility.
  • Assist in development and updating instructional materials (such as lesson plans, student notes with illustrations, visual aids, and examinations) incorporating current technical subject matter, DoD doctrine, policies, guidelines, lessons learned, and current work practices into the instructional materials and training program in accordance with the Program of Instruction, policies, and guidelines provided.
  • Will submit required documentation aligned with accreditation requirements to include lesson plans, student notes with illustrations, visual aids, and examinations, Facilitator Guides, Student Guides, Course materials - PPT, Adjunctive references.
  • Support for the instruction of the Biomedical Equipment Technician Program (20 course iterations, comprised of 13 classes each, at 44 weeks, four days long, and run concurrently with 18-20 students per iteration.
  • 13 classes per course iteration, each class is an average of 21 days, with tasks including assisting in conducting training, and providing subject-matter expertise. Specific objectives are to assist in the development of accurate and effective instructional and technical support materials, achieve student success through the conduct of the training, doctrine review, and provide accurate and timely technical information and support to leadership.
  • The instructor will deliver 40 hours teaching and assist with performance evaluations and testing per iteration to assess students' knowledge and skill development per week. Curriculum delivery will provide a basic knowledge of troubleshooting, maintaining, testing, calibrating, adjusting, installing, repairing, diagnosing malfunctions, and performing preventive maintenance of complex and frequently changing electronic, electrical, mechanical and/or computer-based medical systems.
