PrimaryPurpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Work with administrators, classroom teachers, and campus support staff to plan and implement instruction. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned, or
- Valid Teaching Certificate from a U.S. state with credential review from SBEC
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently on time-sensitive matters
- Dynamic team skills to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents
Experience:
- Student teaching, internship, or acceptance in a state-approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP)
Responsibilities and Duties:
General
- Demonstrate thoroughness, reliability, and accuracy in work
- Work cooperatively and maintain a positive attitude
- Use initiative and good judgment in problem-solving
- Report promptly and maintain good attendance
- Follow district policies and regulations
- Accept supervisory direction
- Strive to improve job skills
- Maintain tact, courtesy, and helpfulness with staff, students, parents, visitors
- Develop and implement lesson plans for distance or virtual learning, accommodating individual student needs
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and resources
- Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for learning styles
- Present subject matter according to guidelines
- Assess student learning styles and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with special education staff on curriculum modifications
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers
- Use technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Assist students in improving study methods
- Conduct ongoing assessments of achievement
- Participate in extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities as assigned
- Model positive behavior and support school district goals
- Create a conducive learning environment
- Manage student behavior per policies
- Take precautions to protect students and property
- Assist in selecting instructional materials
- Be available for communication during specified hours
- Regularly communicate with students and parents
- Conduct conferences and maintain professional relationships
- Attend campus events and meetings
- Participate in staff development activities
- Stay informed of regulations and policies
- Maintain reports and records
- Participate in faculty meetings and committees
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervise teacher aides, student teachers, interns, etc., if any.
Working Conditions:Mental, Physical, and Environmental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Communicate effectively. Frequent movement and physical activity required, including lifting moderate weight (15-44 pounds).
