Position InformationThe University of Texas at San Antonio College of Sciences, Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment invites applications for multiple fixed‑term, open‑rank faculty positions in the Professor of Instruction or Professor of Practice series.
College of SciencesThe College of Sciences at UT San Antonio fosters innovation and excellence through teaching rooted in research across seven departments and 30 degree programs. It supports over 4,800 students and 280 faculty, and works closely with leading research centers.
Department of Biology, Health, and the EnvironmentThe department embraces an interdisciplinary mission at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. It has eight research faculty and over 50 non‑tenured faculty members, with more than 2,900 undergraduates and over 60 graduate students pursuing biology, health sciences, environmental science, or related areas.
Position SummaryThe successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in biology or environmental science to support the BS in Biology, BS in Health Sciences, BS in Environmental Science, and BS in Environmental Studies programs. The position requires a baseline teaching load of four undergraduate or graduate lecture courses in the Biology, Health, and the Environment Department each semester. Faculty teaching coordinated courses are expected to collaborate actively with colleagues and adhere to the parameters outlined in the teaching contract, maintaining consistency in course content, assessments, and instructional practices.
Qualifications- PhD in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Instruction) or MS in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Practice).
- An MD with relevant clinical experience may also be considered.
- Experience teaching biology and/or environmental science lectures and labs.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
